I haven't posted since Dec 23.  The country continues on lockdown, and so is my creativity.  Plus, the winter has been bad.  All winters are, but it has been really cold and snowy.  Two years ago I was in Florida for the winter.  That was a nice change.  A year ago, I had seen most of the movies that were up for best picture.  Due to the lockdown, so few Hollywood movies have been released this year.  Nomadland was good, as was News of the World.  Beyond that, the awards show will be pretty thin, although all those award shows are self serving crap.  The job search continues to be stalled.  But, I really don't care.  The interviews I have had were not in the least bit exciting.  Although who really likes their job anyway?   Funny thing...as I read this post, I realize my writing really sucks too.  Maybe when the country opens back up from this hoax, my creativity will flow.

Christmas Eve Eve.  It's hard to believe 2020 is drawing to a close, although since the lockdown in March, calendar dates have become meaningless.   But, it is Christmas week, and all the regular hosts on the radio and on Fox News are on vacation.  For the working folks, the holidays fall on Thursday and Friday, so that is good for them, assuming they are off.   I got 6 Christmas cards this year, and appreciated them; it's always nice to be thought of.  And of those 6 cards, 4 featured a picture of the family dog.  Being a dog person, I like that.   Looking back, it was 2 yrs ago that I had the radiation procedure for prostate cancer.  Then I went to Florida in January.  Time does fly.  I have been back from Florida for 15 months.  The lockdown has lasted over 9 months...when you look at it, you realize time really is fleeting, so enjoy each day even if you spend it watching bad movies.  speaking of which.....

I see I haven't posted since Oct 22.  It's hard to believe 2 months passed so quickly, and harder to believe I have done nothing in that time.  Nothing.  The job search remains stalled, but I still don't mind being off.  The lockdown continues, so we can't meet our friends for a beer anywhere.  But life goes on.   With 2020 being what it is, I am just looking forward to 2021, and a reset.  Maybe 2021 will right the wrongs of 2020.  But really, we all have lives to live, lockdown or not. I had 4 friends over last week to watch fights.  That was the most guests I have had over since the lockdown started.  The fishing show we go to every January is cancelled.  The border was closed this year, so we didn't make our annual fishing trip.   and so, another post about nothing.  I got up early today, so I am ready for my daily trip to the grocery store to walk the aisles and buy one item.  What will it be today...

Once again, I have a gap of a few weeks between posts.  Writing is something I have to do regularly to be motivated to do it more.  Like when I was a runner, the more I ran, the more I wanted to run.  Until I realized how stupid it was to be a runner.   The presidential debate is on tonight.  When I started writing this blog in 2008, we were just done with obama's first election win.  Look at what a shithole the country has become in 12 years.  I suppose the country is what you think of it.  Still there is no better place in the world to live, so there's that.   Also, when I started this blog, I had been laid off, and it was Christmas season.  I was laid off or between jobs 3 more times since then.  This last time has been pretty good...the lockdown happened, and hiring is non existant now, so I am enjoying being off.  Because, to not enjoy the time off would be a waste of a day.  and at this age, there ain...

It looks like I haven't posted since July 12.  not that I was busy doing something else, but that is a long gap, even for me.  Been running around a bit, more on that later.  Still in the job market, or enjoying pre-retirement.  Probably the latter.  most definitely the latter.  Turning to fall quickly.  Summer was nice, fall is usually better, however, fall leads to winter which sucks. no trip to Canada this year.  Some part of the gang went every year since 1982.  I missed a couple years in that time, but made it most years.  Hopefully this hoax ends and the border is open for our trip next year.   I will get back to writing, this blog and my other literary pursuits.  this is just an ice breaker.

a beautiful summer day.  we played golf at 6:40 this morning.  I almost overslept....I know I set my phone alarm, then was watching fights until 12:45 last night.  No alarm went off this morning, I swear.  I woke up at 6:05 like I do if the alarm wasn't set.  and had to haul ass to make it for the tee time...about 20 miles.  but, I made it, I played like shit, and I had a wonderful time.  I have been fighting a back problem, so golf is even more punishing than normal. so, my last posting mentioned a meth faced woman I saw going through the garbage can outside of Jewel.  I went to Jewel yesterday and always buy a lottery ticket on Saturday from the machine near the exit.  and there was a woman going through the little trash can where people toss their losing tickets after scanning them.  I stood there for a second...and the woman finishes her garbage work and looks at me.  and it was the meth faced woman.  but the really odd t...

Happy 4th of July.  or has that been cancelled because if offends someone? such a shithole this country has become.  Violence and looting is seen as an acceptable response.  Everything offends someone, so everything must change.   anyway, that won't be solved...the country will continue to spiral into the shitter.  Until then, enjoy yourself. I haven't posted since late May.  and not much has happened since then.  Well, I suppose some things have, but no point in bellyaching about them. Today I was going to the grocery store, and was walking toward the garbage can to toss my gum before I put my hoax mask on.  there was a woman frantically looking through the garbage as I came close.  She walked toward me, and had the prototypical meth face...the kind you'd see in a story about meth addiction.  and she was wearing a t-shirt that said "I make beer disappear".  and in that moment, I knew that things were getting back to normal....
