did you file your taxes yet?   because, if you are part of the 50% paying federal taxes, the govt demands you give the govt what is due.  if you are part of the 50% layabouts that pay no taxes, go use your link card to buy more cheetos. 

I have been up for awhile.  read the paper, read the usual internet news sites.  and still, I see so few stories that give any optimism to the lousy state of affairs the county, and the world, is in.  the magazine section had a follow up to their "what are they earning" story they do ever year.  makes me realize I am earning less than I was 10 years ago.  I know I am not alone, but it is not supposed to work that way, is it?

finally Friday. due to the overwhelming success of my Ghost Moose story (in my own mind), here is a parable entitled: THE WOLVES In a nice town where wolves were not indigenous, a wolf showed up...then another wolf....then many wolves.  The townspeople asked the government to help them get rid of the wolves...the government said "no - we will set out food for the wolves, and make them places to live".  the townspeople said "but we don't want wolves around here.  they take up space that we townspeople built, and we cannot go there because it is unsafe due to the wolves.  the wolves have gotten into our schools, and our kids cannot learn at the right pace because the teachers are too busy dealing with problems caused by the wolves.  we do not want wolves around, so please stop feeding them and making places for them to live."  The government said no - wolves are ok, and we even want them to vote in your elections.  Get used to the wolves, they ain'...

All who now pay tax hand over 5 percent of their income. The union envisions high-earners paying a lot more. "We need to look at a progressive amendment to the constitution that will allow the state to tax the rich, make the wealthy pay their fair share for the first time," AFSCME spokesperson Anders Lindall said.  Since my last post, July 8, I went to Canada for the 40 somethingth time for fishing.  The trip was fantastic as always.  And played golf every week.   I played golf yesterday.  It was round 37 for the year.  A real indicator of my age is I am now sore the day after I golf.  I used to play basketball for hours at a time and not be sore at all the next day.  Of course, I haven't played basketball in 16 years.  And for the 10 years before that, I was just taking up space on the bball court. But 50 years ago, I could dunk the ball.  Weakly, but I could dunk. I started writing this blog in 2008 when I was frustrated and disgusted with unemployment and the job search.  Now that I am retired, I look at the posts on Linkedin that are exactly the same things I was writing about then.  I am so glad to not be on that treadmill anymore.   so, look for a new post around Christmas.
