we went from the chilly spring to blazing hot.  finally.  I hate the winter so much that the hot weather doesn't bother me.  but the mosquitoes - there's another story.
Very curious news reporting these days.  The North avenue beach closing on Monday was not reported for what it was - roving bands of urban thugs beating and robbing people.  There were roving bands in the loop last night doing the same, and apparently from the comments submitted to times and trib stories, there were many other incidences of this type of crime the news did not even report.  What is going on?  If there were gangs coming in from Glencoe robbing West Side citizens, would that not be reported as hate crimes?  Now, taking this opinion generally would cause me to be labeled as a racist.  But, should we not explore why these gangs of urban thugs feel empowered to gather, travel to the loop where they can break laws at their whim?  As nice as the loop is, it really does not need this type of issue.  And yet the reporting on the issue remains mum.  sure...the beach was close because it was too hot. 
I hope the victims of these crimes sue the city for millions.  and I have no plans to visit that dump any time soon, and I hope others agree.  stay away from that place until concealed carry is legal.

finally Friday. due to the overwhelming success of my Ghost Moose story (in my own mind), here is a parable entitled: THE WOLVES In a nice town where wolves were not indigenous, a wolf showed up...then another wolf....then many wolves.  The townspeople asked the government to help them get rid of the wolves...the government said "no - we will set out food for the wolves, and make them places to live".  the townspeople said "but we don't want wolves around here.  they take up space that we townspeople built, and we cannot go there because it is unsafe due to the wolves.  the wolves have gotten into our schools, and our kids cannot learn at the right pace because the teachers are too busy dealing with problems caused by the wolves.  we do not want wolves around, so please stop feeding them and making places for them to live."  The government said no - wolves are ok, and we even want them to vote in your elections.  Get used to the wolves, they ain'...

Will winter never end?  This weather sucks - can't do anything outside.  and, looking at the pics I post, you know I love to be outside. so, Gov. Fudd   Quinn has come up with yet another bit of geniusness....giving a tax break to families with kids.  http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/metro/pat-quinn-taxes-state-illinois-speech-families-20120128 at a time with a bottomless pit of a budget deficit, and handing out tax breaks to every corporation threatening to leave Illinois, we are cutting more taxes to a special group...now, just who do you suppose will be asked to make up the difference?  and, of course, when the TEMPORARY income tax increase expires, what then. How ya coming on fixing the pension mess, Einstein??? Gov. Quinn:  please tell us your IQ.  If the question confuses you , please make a confused face and answer with your fingers.
