Easter Sunday. Happy Easter.
Played golf for the first time of the year yesterday. it was cold and very wet, but we played. and I played very poorly. the old muscles just don't remember what they need to do in order to swing a golf club. but, that will come back. the main thing is that it is finally golf season.
on the way back from golf, I stopped for gas. and paid $4.19 per gallon. On Friday, Obama acknowledged that the price of gas was a hardship to the working class (duh) and guess which actions he took to deal with the high gas prices...did he:
1. release gas from the strategic reserve to increase supply, and thereby reduce price (NO)
2. announce that the US would begin drilling on federal land to increase supply and thereby reduce price (NO)
3. form a panel to determine why gas prices are high (YES)
brilliant move, huh? that should really help. about as much as the senate hearings about the financial meltdown that led to all of us losing our retirement (except for those ripping off the taxpayer via state pension) and also for execs in the financial world to be given multi-million dollar bonuses. not from their company's performance, but from the tax dollars we gave them for free. no one went to jail, no one was penalized. but they had Senate hearings. gave them something to do, I guess.
you would think if oil goes up on a small bit of infomation (conflict in Libya) it would go down on the announcement that the US is releasing oil, or is subsidizing drilling in the same manner as we subsidized the pigs on wall street. but no - we WILL get a panel of people discussing why gas prices are high. maybe when they are done with that, they can discuss why a small can of Pringles potato chips is 4 bucks on a flight, or why it is cold in January. and now we see stories that gas will soon go to 6 buck a gallon. but we are going to have that panel. what more can we expect from our community organizer?
