Friday. A very cold day

I had an interview downtown this morning and got in the car at 6:45 am and the temp read minus 20. Brutal. I walked a mile downtown and nearly froze. The interview was with a recruiter, so the meeting with their client will hopefully follow. I am starting a temp project next week, so it will be nice to interact with live humans during the day. I guess that is one of the hardest issues - I am by nature a people person, and my roles as a senior manager have required a lot of face to face discussions and issue resolution. So, I miss that a lot. I am hoping the project is an opportunity to really help the company from a process and cost standpoint. I am spending some time brushing up on techniques, and formulating an approach.

that's the update for the week. am hoping to make my luck next week.

Another 2 weeks passed and I did not post.  I didn't do much, other than sit at a keyboard sending resumes that will not be read.  I had a few phone interviews, but nothing to be encouraged about. Heading to Chicago Saturday.  Will be nice to see the kids, and my granddaughter.  Play golf with the golf buds.  Catch up with some friends, then head to Canada Friday morning (if 2:30 am qualifies as morning).  Me, Kevin, Fred and Greg have been doing this a long time, and it is a very enjoyable journey, from the drive there, the party the night we we get there, the week of fishing, and the drive home.  Seems like only yesterday we were booking the trip at the All Canada show in January.  That was just a few weeks after I had surgery, and I remember being so fatigued walking around the show.  But that was then.  it's a new day. so - If I don't post before I leave Florida, I will catch up soon.  godspeed.

 Christmas Eve Eve.  It's hard to believe 2020 is drawing to a close, although since the lockdown in March, calendar dates have become meaningless.   But, it is Christmas week, and all the regular hosts on the radio and on Fox News are on vacation.  For the working folks, the holidays fall on Thursday and Friday, so that is good for them, assuming they are off.   I got 6 Christmas cards this year, and appreciated them; it's always nice to be thought of.  And of those 6 cards, 4 featured a picture of the family dog.  Being a dog person, I like that.   Looking back, it was 2 yrs ago that I had the radiation procedure for prostate cancer.  Then I went to Florida in January.  Time does fly.  I have been back from Florida for 15 months.  The lockdown has lasted over 9 months...when you look at it, you realize time really is fleeting, so enjoy each day even if you spend it watching bad movies.  speaking of which.....

 Since my last post, July 8, I went to Canada for the 40 somethingth time for fishing.  The trip was fantastic as always.  And played golf every week.   I played golf yesterday.  It was round 37 for the year.  A real indicator of my age is I am now sore the day after I golf.  I used to play basketball for hours at a time and not be sore at all the next day.  Of course, I haven't played basketball in 16 years.  And for the 10 years before that, I was just taking up space on the bball court. But 50 years ago, I could dunk the ball.  Weakly, but I could dunk. I started writing this blog in 2008 when I was frustrated and disgusted with unemployment and the job search.  Now that I am retired, I look at the posts on Linkedin that are exactly the same things I was writing about then.  I am so glad to not be on that treadmill anymore.   so, look for a new post around Christmas.
