I just made a pork loin in the smoker and it is good beyond description. Maybe I should open up a food truck specializing in smoked meats. I remember seeing a show on the Food Channel about the people who have food trucks and they say they work 16 hrs a day, but really love it. Not a chance I would do something like that. I bet they are just saying that to keep themselves from suicide when they realize how under water they are and they have to keep working 16 hr days to pay the bills. but maybe if I had a squad of food trucks....
When I was at the liquor store the other day, I asked my friend where another personI frequently bother I talk to was at...I hadn't seen him in awhile and thought he may have moved on. She told me his girlfriend had passed away, and had been off. I stopped in there today to talk to him. He was strong, but still getting his arms around it all. Those times when real life smacks one in the face really make me thankful my issues are a bit less than that.
and....I was at the health club today and there was a guy who was having difficulty walking - some type of disabilty. He's about my age and my size. I was weighing myself in the locker room (and yes, the scale was about 10 lbs heavy) and he stopped at the scale and said in an eastern European accent that he can't walk well due to an accident. I said the usual old guy response (you are doing just fine - much better than I am). When I finished working out and showered up, I passed him. He was struggling with getting dressed and I asked if I could help. He declined, but his response was so uplifting...so thankful. He stopped by my locker on the way out to tell me I was such a good man. I did not offer help for anything other than to help, but his response made my day. Who knows when any of us will need help putting on our underwear, and when I do I will ask you to help me. Deal?
and that was the day of a semi retired soon to be 60 yr old man. There is a book in there somewhere. If I finish the other 2 books I am writing, I will get started on that one.
