Last day of October....2013 is 10/12 done.  crappy day for the kids to trick or treat.  seems like more often than not the weather on Halloween is not too great.  and now for November.  starts out nice, then finishes out cold.  and leaves us on winter's front step.  and everyone knows how I hate winter.  but, that is not yet, so I shall not rue the weather that is not here..... got the first flu bug of the year. not a killer, but feeling crappy gets old quick, and I think this is day 3.  enough is enough. football on tonight.  I forgot the book I was reading on my desk at work, and I have to finish it by Sunday since it is a new release from the library.  The Quest, by Nelson DeMille. I highly recommend it, as I would for all his books.  and with that, I will wait for the doorbell to ring.  it has only rung (rang?) 4 times in the time I have been home from work.

I guess mid/late fall is here now.  dark, chilly, rainy. should be loads of fun for the little trick or treaters.  I bought too much candy, so the rain tomorrow will necessitate me eating vast quantities of chocolate.  oh well... the obamacare fiasco continues....how sad is it that a trainwreck like this can be foisted upon the populace?  in his haste to fatten up the parasites, our messiah forgot there are some things that have to be done first.  but, he didn't know they weren't done first.  so, therefore it is bush's fault.  everything is bush's fault. our messiah is wise.  and others are not wise.  is it me, or do we take a step toward shitdom each and every day?  leaderless, planless...riddled with parasites we will never get rid of....welcome to the new Amerika.

made it through Monday.  we always make it through every day.  but, making it through a day is not a noble effort.  gotta excel each day.  someone please send me the directions on how to excel....just kidding.  in the line of work I am in, excellence is the minimum expectation.  of course when you work for a company that will tolerate mediocrity everywhere else but in one dept - that seldom works.  so - hopefully I will show some excellence in what I am doing.  more to follow.  and enough about work. it is amazing how we are now in late fall...sun comes up late and goes down early.  getting chillier by the day.  but - maybe a warmup or 2 yet to come before we gas up the snowblower.  playing golf sunday - so perhaps we will have a warmup that day.  that, or we will buy some blackberry brandy on the way to the course.  either way I am ok with it.

up early - now it is 7 am and the sun still hasn't come up.  next week is the time change, so that will make for an earlier sunrise.  sadly, looks like golf season is about over, save for a round or 2. I had a dream last night I got a hole in one.  felt pretty good in the dream, which is the closest I will ever get to a hole in one.  I dvr'd Gold Rush and am watching it as I type this. I guess no matter how bad your job sucks, driving through the jungle in Guyana, or the  Klondike are probably worse.  not that a sucky job is not a sucky job, but puts it all in perspective.  still working my plan on the job front.....funny how as you get old, there are different remedies available to you.  I never would have thought I'd be on that path, but a person has to look out for themselves.  at this point in my career, I have seen numerous times the business model where the efforts of many are channeled for the benefit of a few.  Each time it is...

hump day...that commercial is getting old already.  things that were funny a few weeks back are now just annoying. hey...chicago has a great idea to help close the budget gap: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/10/22/chicago-residents-brace-for-higher-fees-fines/ raise the fines and taxes on everything.  as if chicago was already a place to be avoided, now you run the risk of being towed and fined.  or paying 10 bucks for cigarettes.  or paying 50% tax on the already outrageous cost to park.  when does it end?  once you step on the slippery slope to shit-dom, ain't no turning back.

been awhile since I posted.  for the one or two of you that read, sorry....but vacation is vacation. I effing hate air travel.  I love vacation, but to have to endure hours sitting on a cramped plane with several hundred ignorant douchebags is not vacation.  I can put up with spending a lot of dough on drinks, meals, lodging....but spending 400 bucks on a plane ticket to sit in a cramped, smelly, dirty shitty plane that needs to be steam cleaned really sucks.  and, I got up at 5 am (4 am Chicago time) to leave at 6 to return a rental car, check a bag and get to the gate...only to find the departure time was moved by 3 hrs due to the flight crew getting in late the night before and needing rest.  don't we all need rest?  but our rest does not inconvenience a few hundred fare paying customers.  then some fuckhead sitting in front of me puts his seat back.  I asked him to not, and he moves it up, then moves it a bit back.  I kicked that fuck ...

Tuesday.  really fall now....gray, rainy, chilly.  but I will take this over what is coming in 6 weeks or so.  the govt shutdown is really impacting everyone.... http://nypost.com/2013/10/14/squirrels-nuts-for-first-ladys-garden-during-shutdown/ the much ballyhooed garden of our FLOTUS (or is it FLATUS) is falling into disorder because there are no servants to water, weed and keep it looking good.  now I mistakenly thought the joy of having a garden was being able to grow things and harvest things and be outside doing it.  I would think a garden would be in keeping with her physical fitness movement.  so, do you think she didn't really do any of this gardening herself?  I was a little suspicious a few years back when they were pulling up huge beets out of the ground  a few weeks after it was announced that she had planted a garden.  have we been fooled again?

Monday already.  weekends are never long enough.  nor are vacations.  but, you can't wish time away.  I often write about how time passes too quickly, and enjoy each day.  so - I need to take my own advice and find something positive instead of negative things to dwell on.  I guess that is the definition of being in a rut.  we all fall into ruts.  gotta put the shoulder to the cart and give it a good push out of the rut and back on the road to all-is-wellville.  and so I must.  onward....

been busy.  not sure busy with what, but busy.  played golf on Friday at a course I had not played before.  very nice.  fun to play a course for the first time.  and forget that joke you have in your head. when does it change?  when does a job you used to like become a job you no longer like?  I suppose 4 yrs working at the same place is a long time.  for me it is, anyway.  probably in the not too distant future, I will have more to say about it.  but, I shant be posting things on people's facebook pages about things that should not be posted. at any rate, have a lovely week.  I know I shall.  or, to put it a different way, I shant shant have a lovely week.

the govt shutdown continues.  our messiah needs to make sure our parasites have health care, so the facilities that we paid for are not available to us. can you believe what a shithole this country has become?  electing this unqualifed stooge was not a good idea, huh? i wonder if michelle is still proud of this mess?  but - i guess it affects the whole country, parasites and all.  instead of closing the borders, our parasites demand immagration reform.  we should not pay tax and demand tax payer reform.  same thing, right? anyway - have things ever been worse in the country, or is it me?

weekends go by way too fast.  and I did pretty much nothing all weekend.  which made it a good weekend.  the govt shutdown continues.  the web is full of stories about the draconian measures the fed is taking to inflict pain on those who have funded the govt, and who have done their share to build this county.  but, our parasites need health care, and so the rest of us need to pay for it.  can you in your wildest dreams have predicted the country would be in the dumpster that it is?  we have no one to blame but ourselves. on another subject, i was watching a football game this weekend, and saw a commercial featuring the skeletal Tim McGraw, who is married to the equally skeletal Faith Hill.  the essence of the commercial was don't text and drive, which makes sense.  but, had that commercial aired when we were in our teens (of course, texting was not to be for decades), the message would have been: "don't text and drive - you might sp...

has the country ever been as leaderless, directionless, lost as it is today?  what have we done?  electing an inexperienced person that had now skills that are apparent as the leader of the country.  his big project - making the rest of us poor so our parasites have health care is proving disastrous.  closing the parks and facilities that we paid for, while he was growing up n kenya...allowing him to lie on his college application and attend as a foreign student. man - this country is really a mess.  we deserve what we get, entrusting the welfare of the country to this inept failure. wow - have things ever been worse?  not in my 55 years. history will show this was a blow the country will never recover from.

hump day.  that is a funny commercial.  by now you have seen the stories about the Honor Flights of WW2 veterans that may not take place because the memorial in DC is closed due to the government shutdown.  http://www.northwestohio.com/news/story.aspx?id=953619#.UkuNqxbw6xJ an open air park closed off the the men who fought to keep this country free and safe. and scumbags who never served and whose relatives or sons never served are making the memorial off limits to these heroes.  what a bunch of pantloads.  i always get a kick out of bush, clinton, obama - walking up to their posh helicopter and saluting the marine guard.  i am sure the marine guards think these clowns are spineless pretty boys who would never have the courage it would take to be a marine, let alone see any action. and these are the pansies we elect to make decisions...like closing the WW2 memorial to veterans. I wonder if any muslim places were closed due to the shutdown.....na...

we are now in the final quarter of 2013.  where did those 9 months go?  the passed as quickly as the 9 months  that a woman spends in pregnancy - very quick, painless and uneventful.  nothing nearly as bad as golf induced pain, probably. so - check this out - the feds are prosecuting Mark Cuban for insider trading: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2013-09-30/mark-cuban-lawsuit-jury-insider-trading-mavericks-owner-selected congress is no subject to insider trading laws - which is why they enter office with not much and retire mulit-millionaires.  how can they be allowed to take advantage of insider trading and the rest of us cannot? kind of like how they exempted themselves from the disaster that is obamacare, while the rest of us are not. today, we swirl yet a little closer to the bottom of the crapper.
