Tuesday - Jan. 4

And so onward we go into the new year.  Still very dark even at 7 am.  It will probably be a few weeks before we notice any increase in the amount of daylight we see.  I enjoy getting the gardening catalogs in the mail - the pictures of flowers in full bloom let us know that the nice weather is not too far away.  I plant those plants every year and don't ever achieve those beautiful results that I see in the catalogs - but I continue to plant year after year. 
So - herein lies the challenge....to achieve my goal to improve, I have to understand my baseline and set a goal against that.  For health, it is my weight, so lost pounds is a pretty clear indicator of success or failure.  for personal job reward, I suppose it is in salary.  but for overall job and career satisfaction....I have to work through that one.  Going back to 1995 when I started graduate school because I did not feel prepared for the tough job market that was to come, I know I made the right move at that time.  However, everything has changed.  An MBA might get your resume read one more time, but it is my no means a ticket to a better job.  so then what can I do to fortify myself for that next step?  no shortage of franchises or other options to buy into a concept....but, my current challenge is to make a list of options and evaluate.  and ultimately to improve.
