I had dinner with a friend/colleague from my last company. He has gone on to be CIO for a large consumer goods company. I had always seen how his good business sense and approach were very effective, and it was not surprising to see him land this position. We had not met face to face in the 2 1/2 years since I was downsized. Again, makes you realize just how quickly time flies. Lesson learned - make an effort to stay in touch with those who you would like to stay in touch with. Also, in the last few weeks, a very close friend started his own company. Again, this guy has always been a high achiever, and was willing to take a chance and just do it. and he did. We all know our strengths and weaknesses, our preferences and those things we would prefer not to do. the trick, I suppose, is if you are doing what you would prefer not to do then act like it is your preference, and also try to reposition yourself so that you are playing to your strength more often. sounds easy, right??? (or does that make any sense at all??)
as for dinner - I ate about half of what I usually would have eaten - so maybe a stomach will begin to shrink relatively quickly if it is not regularly stretched beyond capacity so often.......there should be a show on Discovery network about that.....
Thursday - the first work week of the new year is moving right along.....and what have we done toward our goal(s)?
