A cold one this morning - minus 5.  and what have you done differently...oh wait - that was yesterday's thought.
I got a kick out of the Chicago visit of the China's president.  Daley kowtowing to him....I wonder what other Chicago assets he can sell to China - he sold the skyway and parking meter revenue already.  He still has O'hare and Midway Airports yet to unload.  We are well on our way to indentured servitude to the rest of the world.  Sloth and corruption cost money, and since all but about 5% of the parking meter revenue has been squandered spent already, time to have another garage sale.  or tax hike. 
We have been looking to get airfare to Phoenix.  It is alarming how high the airfares are now.  I read the airlines are looking for other ways to rip off travelers increase their revenue.  Besides selling a 3 inch can of pringles chips for 4 bucks, they propose an infant fee (even though they ride on the parents lap, the airline demands their due), a fee for going to the counter, a fee for carry ons, and a few other brilliant concepts.

 Since my last post, July 8, I went to Canada for the 40 somethingth time for fishing.  The trip was fantastic as always.  And played golf every week.   I played golf yesterday.  It was round 37 for the year.  A real indicator of my age is I am now sore the day after I golf.  I used to play basketball for hours at a time and not be sore at all the next day.  Of course, I haven't played basketball in 16 years.  And for the 10 years before that, I was just taking up space on the bball court. But 50 years ago, I could dunk the ball.  Weakly, but I could dunk. I started writing this blog in 2008 when I was frustrated and disgusted with unemployment and the job search.  Now that I am retired, I look at the posts on Linkedin that are exactly the same things I was writing about then.  I am so glad to not be on that treadmill anymore.   so, look for a new post around Christmas.

A week ago I was sitting here thinking about surgery in the morning.  And tomorrow will be one week post op.  This weekend was painful. but the last 2 days have been better.  I actually hit some golf balls this morning.  Still limping and I should use the crutches more than I do, but it is amazing how quickly you are up and about after surgery.  20 yrs ago I would have been in the hospital for a few days.  Now in and out in 5 hours.  I haven't blogged or looked at my book in awhile.  Time to make a push and get the book illustrated and done.  Today was the last day of work for a young lady in the office.  When I wished her well, she said to keep in touch and she looked forward to buying a copy of the book when it is published.  so there is one copy spoken for.  starting to look at my gear for the fishing trip.  I ordered this years pair of cheap sunglasses and some fishing gear.  Next weekend I will start going th...

 I have not posted since July....4 months ago.  time does fly.  since I last posted, I had a job, and left a job, and I have been to Florida twice, and did our annual fishing trip to Canada, played about 20 rounds of golf.  and other than that, didn't do much.  and have enjoyed every minute of not doing much.   as my mom always said, "Too soon old, and too late smart".  Working at shitty jobs to buy crap you don't need is not a good strategy.  I realize I am fortunate to be able to be picky about what job I will accept, but there seems to be a shortage of jobs that I would find interesting, challenging or worth doing.  The bottom line is you trade your time for their money, so both sides need to get what they are looking for.  and in my case, I really don't know what that is.  When I grow up, I will probably have a really exciting career...maybe I will be a stewardess and live that glamourous life.   on the plus side ...
