Sunday, Jan. 24

If this rain was snow, we'd be buried right now. nice to see a lot of snow melting, but there will be a lot more before this winter is over. I remember a weekend just like this last January. Anyway, time marches on. Just finished a project at work that required a lot of hrs and weekend work. Hopefully I can get back to a more manageable schedule. I am helping coach my son's bball team, and that is a fun thing to do in the winter. This is championship weekend in the NFL, and the Super Bowl will be in 2 weeks. Hopefully golf is not too far in the future. looking at the business news, it seems like nothing is really improving. while layoffs may be waning, hiring has not yet started - at least for the folks I know that are looking for work. Having been working since 1980, I have been through a few down cycles, but have really only been downsized once. Makes me realize how lucky I have been. one of these days the recovery is going to start, right?

Jan 1 - Happy New Year

Here we are - the start of a new year. The opportunity to right all wrongs, to stay on the straight and narrow, blah, blah.blah. There's something to be said for trying to stop bad habits and replace them with good ones, but if you've gotten that far off center, a simple day on the calendar probably won't change much. Having said that (anyone watch Curb Your Enthusiasm?) I have resolved to work out more, lose weight, be a better person, etc. Check back with me next Wednesday and ask me how that is working for me. I was going to renew at the health club tomorrow and start playing bball on Sundays, as I did for years before I let my membership lapse. one of the by-products of being laid off was to cut that expense. Speaking of which... last year at this time I was pretty much without a lead, or a clue. I did some consulting for a few weeks, but didn't land until March. As I've written quite a few times, last holiday season was nothing to write home about. so
