DISPATCHES FROM THE GHOST MOOSE

August 20...why is that date familiar???  oh right.. my birthday.  I completed 61 orbits around the sun yesterday...today I start the 62nd orbit. so here's a story, and stay with me here.  We have been driving on the north shore of Lake Superior on our way to fishing each year since 2002.  We pass a restaurant called Betty's Pies each year.  and each year we laugh as we drive by, saying we should stop there.  So this year, on the way home from our fishing trip, we did. I was hoping to try their key lime pie.  we pulled into a full parking lot and 2 of us pie fans went inside to see what the place looked like.  There was a list of pies available for takeout...and key lime was not on the list.  so, I got a slice of 5 chocolate pie.  Not bad, but not key lime. Then, 2 days ago, my golf bud/fishing bud/college roomie texted a list of pies from Betty's for the day that included key lime.  wtf...they couldn't have key lime pie when ...

a few weeks passed since my last post...too much time spent on the job search.  Oh, and I took a 2 week vacation too. Flew to Chicago on July 27.  Spent time at my brother's, saw my kids and granddaughter.  Played golf with my golf buds.  Met up with friends.  Very nice.  It made me appreciate what I have in Chicago...family, friends and memories.  We left for Canada on Aug 1.  The same 4 of us that go every year.  Fun drive to Canada, wonderful week of fishing, and a fun drive back.  I had dinner with the kids and granddaughter then flew back to Florida yesterday.  I do wish I was working, but this trip was like a trip of a lifetime...so many nice elements to it.   I realized how lucky I am with family and friends.  and I realized that even if I am in Florida or somewhere else, family and friends are still a phone call away, and a short flight.  But now back in Florida...I had an interview today in Boca....
