Great news...obama is setting up a task force to look at why gas prices are rising.  but wait, didn't he run on the stance that gas prices would necessarily skyrocket under his plan?  wasn't Bush roundly criticized for the same issue?  well, to criticize our colossal failure would no doubt be racist.

ever get the feeling that we made a huge mistake?  he is towing us out to deeper water every day, with no ability to get us back to the shallow water.  what a complete failure.  must be time for letterman to tell another story about Mitt Romney putting his dog cage on top of the car.

and Blago went to jail today.  the morning news agog with scenes of his limo making its way to Ohare.  big deal - another scumbag politician criminal being sent where he should be sent.  jesse jackson jr...another criminal, gets to run for re-election.  obama, who was associated with the same felon that blago was, escapes any criticism. 

illlinois - what a shithole.  time for another tax increase.

 Since my last post, July 8, I went to Canada for the 40 somethingth time for fishing.  The trip was fantastic as always.  And played golf every week.   I played golf yesterday.  It was round 37 for the year.  A real indicator of my age is I am now sore the day after I golf.  I used to play basketball for hours at a time and not be sore at all the next day.  Of course, I haven't played basketball in 16 years.  And for the 10 years before that, I was just taking up space on the bball court. But 50 years ago, I could dunk the ball.  Weakly, but I could dunk. I started writing this blog in 2008 when I was frustrated and disgusted with unemployment and the job search.  Now that I am retired, I look at the posts on Linkedin that are exactly the same things I was writing about then.  I am so glad to not be on that treadmill anymore.   so, look for a new post around Christmas.

A week ago I was sitting here thinking about surgery in the morning.  And tomorrow will be one week post op.  This weekend was painful. but the last 2 days have been better.  I actually hit some golf balls this morning.  Still limping and I should use the crutches more than I do, but it is amazing how quickly you are up and about after surgery.  20 yrs ago I would have been in the hospital for a few days.  Now in and out in 5 hours.  I haven't blogged or looked at my book in awhile.  Time to make a push and get the book illustrated and done.  Today was the last day of work for a young lady in the office.  When I wished her well, she said to keep in touch and she looked forward to buying a copy of the book when it is published.  so there is one copy spoken for.  starting to look at my gear for the fishing trip.  I ordered this years pair of cheap sunglasses and some fishing gear.  Next weekend I will start going th...

 I have not posted since July....4 months ago.  time does fly.  since I last posted, I had a job, and left a job, and I have been to Florida twice, and did our annual fishing trip to Canada, played about 20 rounds of golf.  and other than that, didn't do much.  and have enjoyed every minute of not doing much.   as my mom always said, "Too soon old, and too late smart".  Working at shitty jobs to buy crap you don't need is not a good strategy.  I realize I am fortunate to be able to be picky about what job I will accept, but there seems to be a shortage of jobs that I would find interesting, challenging or worth doing.  The bottom line is you trade your time for their money, so both sides need to get what they are looking for.  and in my case, I really don't know what that is.  When I grow up, I will probably have a really exciting career...maybe I will be a stewardess and live that glamourous life.   on the plus side ...
