Sunday. Quiet and cold

Spoke with my mom today. She always says "I'm thinking of you" as if I had some terminal illness. I can never deliver an adequate comeback to a statement like that. But, it will change. I guess it is good to be in people's thoughts and prayers.

Not much to do today with the search. Seems to be some posting activity, but I haven't heard back on any of the resumes I sent out. All it takes is one, though.

I tried to play basketball last night...if I have gotten a bit better at golf, I got a lot worse at basketball.  I think this is the end of the road for that sport.  Which brings me to a new analogy..... Imagine a kid with one leg going out for the football team.  It is a heartwarming story, and he gets to play middle linebacker in a real game.  Except that his inability to actually play the game far outweigh the heartwarming aspect of the situation, and other kids are getting hurt because the kid is not actually playing the game...the other kids are getting manhandled and the game is a disaster because they are essentially playing 11 against 10.  The handicapped kid is courageous, but is just taking up space that a qualified player would be taking.  that is what our current presidential situation is (to me anyway).  We elected a feel-good story...a non-threatening mixed race guy that was a smooth talker.  We didn't bother to...

Merry Christmas.  I had a very nice day yesterday and today celebrating at my 2 brothers houses.  Nice to be welcomed and treated so well.  I seem to pick better siblings and in laws than I do other folks.  I haven't posted for a week.  I need to get back to writing.  My book was available on Kindle on Friday, and I need to work on a follow up. How else can I have my own section in the Dewey Decimal system?  I haven't watched a single hallmark Christmas movie.  I just haven't found that one magical plot.   Maybe not this year.  anyway, Merry Christmas to all

 For the past 4 weeks, I have been subbing for a guy on medical leave from his job at an assisted living facility.  So, I have been pushing carts of diapers, oxygen tanks and other supplies.  It is more strenuous work than I have done in a long time.  And I have lost 14 lbs in those 4 weeks.  I forgot what it was like to be tired and sore at the end of the day.  As I tell people as I push my flatbed cart full of supplies "I'm really glad I spent 5 years getting my MBA".  but, it is nice to be busy.  I think I have a week or 2 more of this gig.  Then hopefully the project I was originally going to work on will restart.   At any rate, golf season has started. I played the last 2 weeks, and wasn't bad.  I need to shoot 85 this year.  And I will.  Getting ready to watch NASCAR Talledega race.  Is there a bigger waste of a Sunday?
