Monday night - Bball 2 days in a row

Just got back from playing basketball tonight. Funny how in years past there was so little talk of the economy in a gym environment. Now you hear how bad it is at one place, how someone's business is very slow, how the guy that specializes in short sales on houses has a ton of business. I feel like I am on the "other side" now. The side that I was envious just last month. But that apprehension about job security will not leave me for a long, long time. It is so nice to talk with the family about possible vacation destinations for the summer (somewhere close that we can drive to - the down time exhaused our reserves) instead of wondering how long I could stretch my unemployment debit card.
It is so very nice to be busy, but I don't feel at all at ease yet. You will see what I mean when you start your new job. Like Chance in Homeward Bound (a classic movie I love), I don't want to get too comfortable lest the rug be pulled out from under me. I suppose that is a bit of my irrational insecurity again......or not.

anyway, my 50 year old carcass is beat. For a guy that used to play ball every night, I have really hit the skids.

Will winter never end?  This weather sucks - can't do anything outside.  and, looking at the pics I post, you know I love to be outside. so, Gov. How ya coming on fixing the pension mess, Einstein??? Gov. Quinn:  please tell us your IQ.  If the question confuses you , please make a confused face and answer with your fingers. finally Friday. due to the overwhelming success of my Ghost Moose story (in my own mind), here is a parable entitled: THE WOLVES In a nice town where wolves were not indigenous, a wolf showed up...then another wolf....then many wolves.  The townspeople asked the government to help them get rid of the wolves...the government said "no - we will set out food for the wolves, and make them places to live".  the townspeople said "but we don't want wolves around here.  they take up space that we townspeople built, and we cannot go there because it is unsafe due to the wolves.  the wolves have gotten into our schools, and our kids cannot learn at the right pace because the teachers are too busy dealing with problems caused by the wolves.  we do not want wolves around, so please stop feeding them and making places for them to live."  The government said no - wolves are ok, and we even want them to vote in your elections.  Get used to the wolves, they ain't goin

Not much left in 2011...and each day we are a bit closer to spring... The toilet that is Illinois will be enacting over 200 new laws at the start of 2012. http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/metro/new-year-comes-with-more-than-200-new-illinois-laws-2012-20111228 In these laws, I cannot find: - a law limiting pension abuse, and illegal enrichment - a law limiting the public's exposure to pension debt - a law prohibiting insider deals from  politicians - a law prohibiting municipalities from selling assets that have been paid for by citizens - a law prohibiting illigal aliens from parasitically consuming resources paid for by legal residents the list could go on forever.  these 200 new laws are largely to keep the middle class in line so the rich can continue to be richer. and if you throw out your compter, prepare to be fined. Illinois - what a shithole.
