Tuesday, Feb 17 - so quiet

I am so used to no activity in the search, but it seems so quiet. I saw an article that employees of ACCO are taking a pay cut for the next few months. Better than layoffs, but I suppose that is the logical next step.
My project ends today, so I will have to stop at the unemployment office to see how to get that restarted.
I had gotten complacent over the last few weeks and relaxed my search. I saw a posting on Careerbuilder that I missed and had been posted for a few weeks. I applied online and called the company. The HR manager responed with an email to call. She was concerned that my salary expectations would be too high. But, at this point, I am willing to take what I can in order to stay busy, and engaged in a project. There is something to be said for having a role, and a place to hang your hat each day. So, I will call the company later and try to get a dialog going.

Will winter never end?  This weather sucks - can't do anything outside.  and, looking at the pics I post, you know I love to be outside. so, Gov. finally Friday. due to the overwhelming success of my Ghost Moose story (in my own mind), here is a parable entitled: THE WOLVES In a nice town where wolves were not indigenous, a wolf showed up...then another wolf....then many wolves.  The townspeople asked the government to help them get rid of the wolves...the government said "no - we will set out food for the wolves, and make them places to live".  the townspeople said "but we don't want wolves around here.  they take up space that we townspeople built, and we cannot go there because it is unsafe due to the wolves.  the wolves have gotten into our schools, and our kids cannot learn at the right pace because the teachers are too busy dealing with problems caused by the wolves.  we do not want wolves around, so please stop feeding them and making places for them to live."  The government said no - wolves are ok, and we even want them to vote in your elections.  Get used to the wolves, they ain't goin

Not much left in 2011...and each day we are a bit closer to spring... The toilet that is Illinois will be enacting over 200 new laws at the start of 2012. http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/metro/new-year-comes-with-more-than-200-new-illinois-laws-2012-20111228 In these laws, I cannot find: - a law limiting pension abuse, and illegal enrichment - a law limiting the public's exposure to pension debt - a law prohibiting insider deals from  politicians - a law prohibiting municipalities from selling assets that have been paid for by citizens - a law prohibiting illigal aliens from parasitically consuming resources paid for by legal residents the list could go on forever.  these 200 new laws are largely to keep the middle class in line so the rich can continue to be richer. and if you throw out your compter, prepare to be fined. Illinois - what a shithole.
